It Should be Simpler Now

I threw my coins into the wishing well
and drew a pail of illusions.
I drank from it
swallowing the fairytale
painfully digesting the ever after.

It should be simpler now...

The veil has shifted, perhaps lifted
I see differently.
Adonis is a statue
an immaculate monument
beautifully consumed in fear.

It should be simpler now...

Love and chaos uncovered
revealing the nerve
exposing the innards
shaking the foundation
all seeds will grow.

It should be simpler but yet...

Oh, if everything were simpler.
You take such strong images and envelope them with weakness. Lifting sheets off of old furniture to show how worth they are even though they are stained with loving memories.
It's beautiful.
Yet heartbreaking.
I think, since such illusions are lifted from you, things will be much simpler now.
